Interstellar

I think this movie was super-hyped by everyone, but my brothers Jake and Mike.  They didn't like it too much, so when I watched it, I was expecting some stupid things. I have heard a bunch of people say, "if you understand physics, you will like this movie."  I can barely spell physics, so I wasn't expecting much . . . Oh, I love Christopher Nolan by the way, so I was excited to watch it.
The first part of the movie reminded me of "Signs" with Mel Gibson.  I thought the little girl was a great actress (when she was a kid and the grown up girl) and although it started slow, it was intriguing.  I loved how they cut-to-the-chase and had the rocket countdown going while Mathew Mcconaughey (Cooper) was driving away from his family.
The scenes from space were amazing and the music matched perfectly. When they landed on the water planet, I feel like if you knew 1 hour was 7 years, you would be running and hustling to get whatever you needed.  Anne Hathaway (Brand) was stupid and stubborn and it was frustrating to watch on this planet (but she was great after) and don't get me started on those robots.  Right when the super wave was going to crash down on everyone, the robot transforms and picks up Anne and bolts it back to the plane.  If your robots can move that fast, they should have just rode on the robot right when they landed, got their data, and back to the ship.  That water world was pretty dumb.
So, they get back to the ship and it was cool to see Cooper watch the video footage of his children through the last 23 years.  That was one of the best parts of the film.
Next, they go to this ice planet and rescue Matt Damon.  Worst character and worst part of the movie.  Matt Damon goes off on a journey with Cooper and tries to kill him.  I was laughing so hard when Damon was trying to stab Cooper with his ice pick on his boots ha ha.  That entire scene was the worst.  Then you have the robot running up a mountain and I turned to my brother and said, "This is one of the dumbest movies I have ever scene".  Matt Damon escapes in a ship and Cooper and Brand are chasing him in another ship and then Cooper calls the robot "Slick" like only Mathew M. can ha ha.  I was laughing and shaking my head for the next minutes and then . . .Matt Damon's pod explodes in space and he dies.  From that moment on, I thought it was amazing.
I don't really understand how Cooper was in the library of time and could communicate with his daughter, but I liked it.  I thought that scene and everything after was breathtaking and beautiful.
Seeing Matt Damon get rescued and that his daughter saved everyone was a better ending then I was expecting, but then Cooper was able to see his daughter who was on her deathbed.  Their bond was incredible and I loved how she told him to go find Brand.
I was kind of hoping/expecting that it would show Brand and Cooper reunite on the desert planet, but I liked how it ended.
All in all, it was a great movie.  I have never been so disappointed by a movie in the first half and loved it by the end.  Thinking about it more and more, it was a great movie.  8/10
